$0.41

Lemon Verbena Dish Soap

For over a week I put off going to the bank to deposit the rent checks because it is not one of my favorite places to visit. Usually when I go, I always make a loop by running as many errands as possible. Today it was the bank and supermarket for dried figs. Before leaving, I remembered a $10 off Kohls coupon came the other day in the mail so I grabbed it hoping to find a baking item for a few cents.
I did my banking and had a chat with a gal whom I have known for many years now. In talking about travel, she mentioned to me that she makes money selling bras in Trinidad, where she is from. She buys them for a few bucks at Marshalls or Ross, takes them abroad and sells them for about a 75% profit.  Last year, I bought a nice bra for $1 from Nordstrom Rack and sold it on eBay for $30. This was a $58 bra much similar to Wacoal. I often times look for more good deals like that and the closest found were 2 pair of panties for $0.01 each at Nordstrom Rack. In a year, I have bought at least five items for a penny each and a few for a dollar. Nordstrom Rack at times can be better than finding a penny on the ground.
After the bank, I walked over to Kohls and picked up a baking scraper for $10.49 thinking it would be worth $0.49 after coupon. I walked around too look for another that was a bit lighter but did not see one. Instead, I saw an island with clearance items at 50% off. There were tons of Mrs. Meyers and Seventh Generation cleaning supplies priced from $2.49-$3.99 . I put back the scraper because it is a want and picked up four bottles of detergent ($2.49 each) out of necessity. I knew that I my total had to be at least  $10 and at $9.96, I had to find something very cheap to cross over the threshold. I saw cups, plates, towels and other things I did not need. I wondered a bit more and found a roll of Ducktape for $0.42. I did not need it but surely to find anything cheaper would have taken a while to find and was not guaranteed. After checking out, my overall total for a roll of Ducktape and four bottles of dish detergent cost $0.41. It is almost as if each bottle of detergent was a dime and the Ducktape was a penny. Some weeks ago I bought a bottle of Mrs. Meyers dish detergent for $2.61 with a $1 off coupon from Target thinking it was a deal. Five bottles for $3 cannot be beat and it will be a very long time before I have to buy more.
